Last weekend, the love of my life asked me to spen Last weekend, the love of my life asked me to spend forever with him. Manny, you are my best friend and my greatest gift. Words cannot express how much you mean to me. I love this man so much and how beautiful our story is. God is so good. Of course I said YES! 🥺💍💗#bestbirthdayever #blacklove #engaged #myfiance
Cheers to 29 ✨Here are the reminders I am taking Cheers to 29 ✨Here are the reminders I am taking with me in the last year of my 20s:⁣
⁣⁣
Give life to your feelings. What I feel is valid and my feelings deserve to be acknowledged. My therapist said this and it really meant a lot to me.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You have who you need. Manny shared this with me several years ago, and it’s stuck. I love my circle of people. Quality over quality any day. I am so incredibly loved and blessed. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Consider obedience over the outcome. This was a reminder from Jesus. He cares about my faithfulness, even in the smallest things.
The start of the year was rough for me. I struggle The start of the year was rough for me. I struggled with my emotional wellbeing and found that it was because I was overzealous about all the things I promised to do. I had to step back, check in and get real with myself. I’m allowing myself a do-over. Hey, 2022. I’m still excited for you and I promise to be more realistic with my expectations and to give myself more grace in the process. I am thankful for new beginnings. And that is on God makes all things new.
⁣Well, therapy is showing me that I live in my h ⁣Well, therapy is showing me that I live in my head. In an effort to get out of it and show up more, here's a lil introduction to me:⁣
⁣
✨ My name is Taiwo (Tie-Whoa). For the longest time I went by just Tai. But if folks can learn to pronounce quinoa, they can learn to pronounce my name, respectfully. ⁣
⁣
✨ I am Nigerian and I was born in Caserta, Italy. I didn't learn English until I moved to the States.⁣
⁣
✨ My first encounter with God was when I was 5. I watched a scary movie that kept me awake. And then I heard a small, still voice tell me that God was in my presence and soothed me to sleep. ⁣
⁣
✨ When I was in 5th grade, I hand-wrote a bunch of novels and short stories that I kept in a pink Bratz binder. I still have it lol.⁣
⁣
✨I taught myself how to graphic design when I was 12. I considered going to an arts school for college too! ⁣
⁣
✨ I majored in Psychology and minored in African-American Studies. Getting into the minor was an accident lol. I took a bunch of classes in it and just picked it up. ⁣
⁣
✨ I currently have three degrees (B.S., M.Ed, and Ed.S.) I almost dropped out of the third degree program though because I was having a really hard time. I thank God that He kept me through a rough season. ⁣
⁣
✨ One of my other favorite past times is examining and reading TV characters to filth. And I'm spot on most of the time lol. I blame my background and my career on that. ⁣
⁣
✨ I'm an introvert and a homebody. And I'm okay with it!!! ⁣
⁣
✨I love learning, seriously. And it brings me so much joy when I can share knowledge with others. 🤓⁣
⁣
-- That's all (for now) lol. Thank you for reading if you got this far. Happy New Year, y'all. I'm looking forward to leaning into my community and learning more about you too 💛
Kinky hair appreciation post. 🖤 My original pla Kinky hair appreciation post. 🖤 My original plan was to do some sort of defined hair style for a wedding this weekend, but I didn't have the energy to actually do an elaborate style. So I went for a low puff on my 4C hair courtesy of water, whipped shea butter and some hair oil. Not every day stretched hair or definition! Shrunken, undefined hair is beautiful too.
